My Aspiration & Coursework
“My journey into IT began with a curiosity for how technology connects people and solves problems, which led me to pursue my degree at the University of South Carolina (2020–2024). Now, I aspire to grow as an IT specialist, advancing in networking, cloud, and AI to design secure, scalable systems that drive innovation and empower organizations.”

Network admin
During my networking course, I gained hands-on experience configuring routers and switches using Cisco Packet Tracer. I implemented DHCP, STP loops, EtherChannels, HSRP, and worked extensively with IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, gaining practical insight into network configuration, redundancy, and stability. I also learned about subnetting and routing protocols, which helped me understand how data flows across networks. Troubleshooting connectivity issues and optimizing performance strengthened my problem-solving skills and reinforced the importance of precision and planning in building reliable IT infrastructures.

Database Management
In my database course, I learned how to design and manage relational databases using SQL. I worked on multi-table database projects, creating queries to efficiently retrieve and organize data. This experience taught me how structured data supports decision-making, reduces manual work, and improves business efficiency. By practicing normalization, constraints, and joins, I developed a deeper understanding of how databases serve as the backbone for many business applications and IT systems.

Software Design
During my software design class, I worked with both Python and Mendix, gaining skills in programming and low-code application development. In Python, I practiced writing efficient code, using object-oriented programming, and creating basic programs to solve real-world problems. In Mendix, I explored designing applications using a drag-and-drop interface for rapid development. These experiences strengthened my problem-solving skills and gave me the confidence to apply programming concepts in practical scenarios, preparing me for future software development projects.

web Dev
My web development course allowed me to build responsive websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I learned how to create visually appealing layouts, implement interactive features, and analyze user behavior with tools like Google Analytics. Beyond classroom projects, I applied these skills to real-world websites, including a personal portfolio and sites for family businesses. This course reinforced my ability to combine creativity and technical knowledge to deliver engaging, user-focused web experiences.

CyberSecurity Principles
In my cybersecurity coursework and labs, I built a strong foundation in understanding how the cyber environment operates, from defensive measures to offensive techniques. Using tools like Kali Linux, I gained hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning, discovery, and basic penetration testing. I learned how access controls, cryptography, and security frameworks form the backbone of defense, while also studying common attack vectors such as social engineering, spyware, remote access trojans, backdoor installations, and DDoS attacks. This exposure helped me appreciate both the complexity of modern threats and the importance of layered security. Through vulnerability assessments and simulations, I developed practical insight into how organizations can detect, mitigate, and prevent attacks, shaping my interest in building more resilient systems.

Project Management
In my project management class, I learned how to gather requirements, write business cases, and manage projects from start to finish. One key project involved analyzing whether RFID trackers could reduce theft and increase revenue, giving me practical experience in cost-benefit analysis and risk assessment. I also explored current industry trends, including AI, big data, and ethics, which helped me understand how technology influences project decisions. This course strengthened my ability to coordinate teams, communicate goals, and lead projects effectively.

UI/UX Design
During my UI/UX course, I learned how to design user-centered interfaces using Figma. I conducted user research, created wireframes, and developed prototypes focused on usability and accessibility. One notable project involved designing an app for booking carry-on space on planes, where our team achieved a 93% interest rate from survey participants. This experience taught me how to translate user feedback into functional designs and reinforced the importance of combining creativity with analytical thinking in interface design.

Business communication
In my business communication course, I learned about cultural differences, effective communication strategies, and professional writing skills essential for the modern workplace. I practiced crafting cover letters, formatting business letters and emails, and creating polished resumes. The course also emphasized cross-cultural awareness, helping me communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Overall, this course strengthened my ability to present myself professionally and build strong workplace relationships—skills that are invaluable in any career.
